MORE ABOUT INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR CLADDING BOARDS
Interior and exterior cladding boards
Interior cladding boards are of extremely high quality: first, coniferous wood suitable specifically for interior finishing is selected, then it is processed in sawmills. Only those cladding boards that have no holes, color changes, insect damage, or other aesthetic defects are considered suitable for interior finishing. Only those defects that are not visible when the cladding boards are installed are permitted. Interior cladding boards can be smooth (planed) or rough surface. By using interior cladding boards and the patterns created from them, it is possible to visually increase or decrease the size of a room.
Exterior cladding boards are most often made from spruce wood, as it deforms less – it absorbs less moisture from the environment. Like interior cladding boards, exterior cladding boards can be planed or rough. Exterior cladding boards allow you to completely change and renew the appearance of a building with minimal costs.
What determines the price of cladding boards?
The price of cladding boards depends on several aspects. First of all, it is determined by the wood species. Larch cladding boards are almost twice as expensive as cladding boards made from spruce or pine. Moreover, local raw materials are cheaper than imported ones. For example, wood brought from Nordic countries is denser and more durable, so its price can be up to 15% higher compared to local wood.
Another criterion that determines the price of cladding boards is their processing method. They can be planed or not, dried differently (the more thoroughly dried, the higher the price), impregnated or not. It goes without saying that the price of cladding boards also depends on their quality: the higher the category of boards, the more expensive they are. The cheapest are C category cladding boards, the most expensive are AB.
The price of cladding boards varies depending on their dimensions. The thicker the cladding boards, the more wood is needed to manufacture them, therefore thick cladding boards are more expensive. Non-standard dimension cladding boards are more expensive than standard ones (standard cladding board thickness: 12 – 28 mm, width: 80 – 200 mm).
